Dan, I am happy you are back to concentrate on the Recombobulation Area! I rather missed finding you easily here and your detailed thoughtful writing. We have so many issues that need your kind of deep coverage. By that, I mean the political angle and citizen action angle as well.
If I remember right, I first found you when you reported on the childcare fight and testimony at a committee hearing, 2023? You wrote about that hearing and the people trying to get better childcare funding and how they needed support. I had just talked with a GOP legislator about the issue and he had said the #1 issue for people contacting his office was childcare. Your coverage was in depth and help connect me to Corrine Hendrickson's group. Dedicated to action and undying in their efforts, what fantastic people, citizens who really care about our families in Wisconsin. I'm glad to see she is running for the WI senate.

Dan, just catching up now as I made a decision to months ago to no longer follow this publications previous ownership, including The Recombobulatioan Area, given what I have perceived as their de-commitment to Wisconsin during a time when we needed them the most. I respect the amicable tone and commitment to moving on!
I hope that others follow your lead and there is a lane for those left behind by your previous employer, what had been built at Civic (especially pre that name) was a beautiful thing and really galvanized Wisconsinites across the state. Many of us felt like a true member of the Civic Media community and were devastated by the scrapping of the network. I hope something new can grow in its place and we can regain that momentum. Radio signals aren’t cheap and most hosts don’t work for free but having pragmatic voices on the air across the state probably kept me living here and kept the hope alive for a better Wisconsin. There is something special about a broadcast medium, the right does it all day everyday across the dial, I know there is space for an alternative.
I look forward to re-subscribing to your work and your coverage of this pivotal election season, those of us outside of Milwaukee need this high quality journalism in each of our communities as well.
