What a fascinating race. Glendale’s mayor (Kennedy) did videos interviews with all the candidates recently. His first question to each candidate was I think a telling one….(paraphrased): “We are on an elevator together…you have 30 seconds to tell me why you would make a great Governor.” From the answers to that question alone I made my determination as who will get my vote in the primary. I thought one candidate’s response showed the most “electability”….for me that’s the most important qualification. Needless to say, anyone from this impressive field will get my vote in November.

Exactly how good lawyers evaluate a case. Opening statements don't decide the verdict, but they often reveal whether someone has a clear theory, confidence and ability to persuade. Ultimately, the strongest candidate is the one whose record and arguments can withstand careful scrutiny, not just make a compelling first impression.

I’m far from being even a bad lawyer… just a simple viola player. Interestingly, only two out of the then seven candidates kept their spiels under 30 seconds. It was one of those two that snagged my upcoming vote. Between those two, the decision came down to the interior decoration choices the respective candidates chose to ornament the walls behind them. One candidate clearly took time to place some significant objects within view. That caught the eye of a simple viola player…

Well, now it'll be doubly interesting to see where he lands in your ranked-choice poll. I'm certain this won't be the last time we see him on the statewide stage.
